Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Chevrolet’s response to Ford’s pony car was worth the two-year wait, the Camaro proving to be a worthy answer to the Mustang with strong sales numbers and racking up wins on the race track. The changes from 1967 to 1968 were subtle and included restyled headlights and taillights, one-piece curved side windows, rectangular side mirrors, and a new grille on non-RS models. Engine options remained the same, with power ranging from 140 horsepower from the standard 230 cu-in inline six, to a whopping 325 horsepower from the 396 cu-in Turbo-Fire V8 in SS trim. Camaros across the range also received staggered shock mounts to address wheel hop and deliver more refined handling. Among marque enthusiasts, the first-generation Camaro (1967-1969) is considered to be the ultimate blend of muscle and good looks, especially when equipped with the four-speed manual transmission and 327 cu-in V8, such as this example.

This lot is offered Without Reserve from The Roger Boman Collection, which comprises 27 vehicles ranging from European to American classics. Many examples within the collection feature Mr. Boman’s standard modification “formula,” including but not limited to the addition of disc brakes, air conditioning, modern fuel injection, and many other custom touches seen by countless enthusiasts around the Fresno, California area who shared the late owner’s passion for this unique assortment of automobiles.
