1967 Chevrolet El Camino Custom Cold Start
Description
While Ford was the first to revive the once-common “roadster utility” body style of the 1920s and 1930s with the Ford Ranchero, General Motors would take note and follow suit two years later. Their interpretation, the El Camino, was first advertised as “a commercial vehicle that’s a prize combination of business ability and beauty.” The second-generation El Camino would quickly follow in 1964 with bigger engines and higher trim levels. The popularity of V8 engines continued to rise by 1967, including the 396 “Big Block” option. While similar to the previous version, the 1967 El Camino featured a new grille, hood and front bumper, along with new fenders and headlamp bezels.
This El Camino Custom has all of the style and practicality that made them such favorites in 1967 selling two to one over the Ranchero. There was no Super Sport (SS) version in 1967 and the 396 V8 engine was only available on the Custom model. This ’67 El Camino Custom is finished in Emerald Turquoise as on the Body by Fisher tag and is equipped with the 396 V8 that is thought to be the 350 hp version, along with the Muncie M21 four-speed manual.

Ownership History
The consignor has owned this 1967 El Camino Custom since 2023. He states he drove “Elky” from Keizer, Oregon to Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada this year. Also, “the El Camino has the factory SS-style gas/temp/pressure/volt (originally amp) gauges, but it is missing the “turn signal” tach, which was small, hard to read, and obscured the gas gauge.”
