1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible Walk Around

1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible Driving
Description
“You’re simply automatically in with a GTO, it’s the ‘hot set-up’ when it comes to street or strip.” Car Craft magazine in their December 1965 issue made that clear, the 1966 GTO was one of the hottest cars of the year. Mechanically, the 1966 GTO continued to be powered by a 389 cu-in V8 with single four-barrel carburetor or the optional “Tri-Power” setup with three two-barrel carbs adding 25 horsepower. But that body! The side profile featured a “Coke Bottle” waist inspired by the Air Force fighter jets of the era, and the roof featured “Flying Buttress” “C” Pillars for a very unique look. Previous GTOs were beautiful, but the new GTO was seductive and sensual.
Pontiac GTO sales more than doubled in 1966 and one look at this ’66 is all that’s needed to see why. This is a true GTO with the chassis and body tag codes as proof. Finished in Reef Turquoise Metallic paint with a rare Dark Turquoise interior as from the factory, this GTO was originally a standard 389 4bbl car that now has the desirable “Tri-Power” option. Prior to the consignor, a previous caretaker owned it for 22 years. Now it’s time for someone else to join the in crowd.
