Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The best-known of the so-called “Big Healey” models, the Austin-Healey 3000 was introduced in 1959 and remained in production until 1967. The 3000 earned its “big” moniker as its inline-six engine grew in displacement and output from 2,639 cc and 102 horsepower in the preceding 100-6, to 2,912 cc and 136 horsepower. The Mk III BJ8 models of 1964 onwards received the most powerful version of the BMC C-Series unit ever equipped in a Healey, offering 150 horsepower with a new higher lift camshaft. Paired with a rigid ladder chassis, the 3000 was praised in period for its superior road-holding capabilities and proved highly successful in many European rallies of the day. Over 90 percent of 3000s were exported in left-hand drive specification, mostly to North America, where they were enjoyed for their nimble handling, handsome styling, and 2+2 seating in later models.
