Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1964 Chevrolet Impala is a culmination of a unique era in General Motors history. Remembered as the last “X frame” car available in the Chevrolet lineup, not only was it assembled on one of General Motors’ most popular body styles, but the mid-size Impala also received the largest engines. It’s no wonder then that of the 1,574,468 Chevrolets produced for the ’64 model year, more than half (889,600) were Impalas.
The ’64 Impalas featured a thin strip of chrome that ran from nose to tail, then circled back to form a parallel lower line stretching across the top of the rear wheel well to the front wheel well. There was also a chrome strip that ran from the center of the hood to the windshield, then picked up again at the rear window and continued down to the taillights, which were three per side with a stamped alloy panel between them.
Base Impala engines were the 140-horsepower 230 cubic-inch six and 195-hp 283 V8, with multiple options available all the way up to the top-level 409 cu-in V8. This 1964 Sport Coupe is powered by an optional 327 cu-in four-barrel V8, an extra cost of $245 (about $2,500 today), mated to a four-speed manual transmission.
