1964 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
While the Corvette’s headline 1964 styling change removed the 1963 Corvette Coupe’s split rear window, the Corvette’s stylists also removed the faux air intakes from the hood, though the indentations remained, making the 1964 hood a unique item. The suspension also saw improvements with variable rate springs and newly calibrated shocks. Sales of America’s sports car rose to 22,229 overall with the Convertible remaining the most popular body style for 1964. The Chevy 327 cubic-inch V8 remained the only engine, available in stock 250 horsepower tune, with 300, 360, and 375 horsepower options available. The majority of buyers opted for the four-speed manual for $188 extra which was available in wide-ratio and close ratio configurations. Available as either a Coupe or a Convertible, this All-American sports car satisfied a range of customers, whether they were looking for a weekend cruiser or a potent car to go racing, thanks to its long list of options.
This lot is offered Without Reserve from The Roger Boman Collection, which comprises 27 vehicles ranging from European to American classics. Many examples within the collection feature Mr. Boman’s standard modification “formula,” including but not limited to the addition of disc brakes, air conditioning, modern fuel injection, and many other custom touches seen by countless enthusiasts around the Fresno, California area who shared the late owner’s passion for this unique assortment of automobiles.
