62-Years-Owned 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Walk-Around Video
Description
“The casual way a Corvette flattens out the steepest hill you’re ever seen makes you believe for a minute that Newton's Law has been repealed.” No, Chevrolet could not defy the laws of physics, but driving a 1960 Corvette sure felt that way. Engine options included configurations of the 283 cu-in small-block V8 ranging from the popular base 230 horsepower model with a single four-barrel carburetor, all the way up to a 315 hp option that utilized Rochester “Ram Jet” mechanical fuel injection.
No matter the engine, they are enjoyed for their exhilarating performance and open-air pleasure, like this 1960 Corvette. Equipped with the 230 hp version of the 283 cu-in V8, it features the $199.10 two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission option, ordered on just 17 percent of 1960 Corvettes. It is also equipped with the rare $139.90 RPO 473 Power Folding Top, ordered on only 512 ’Vettes (five percent) that year. It was purchased by the consignor in 1962 and has been lovingly maintained and enjoyed since then. Due to the flexible nature of these early fiberglass bodies, it is not unusual for C1 Corvettes to require repainting multiple times over the years, yet this 1960 is said to have had only one respray in the original Roman Red with its optional Ermine White coves in the past 62 years of cherished ownership.
