Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Chevrolet Task Force series of trucks introduced in 1955 featured several notable improvements over the preceding Advance Design series, including V8 engines, 12-volt electrical systems, smooth-sided beds, and extensive chrome trim.
The 1958 model year saw the most significant redesign for the Task Force series trucks. Inspired by Chevrolet's passenger cars, the lineup now featured standard quad headlamps, larger parking lamps, and an updated grille with a set of four stacked louvers and a prominent chrome bar embossed with “Chevrolet.” Additionally, Chevrolet renamed its trucks; light-duty models were called “Apache,” medium-duty were “Viking,” and heavy-duty trucks were “Spartan.” Engine choices included a 235 cubic-inch Thriftmaster inline-six and a 283 V8.
These trucks’ classic ’50s design elements have made them favorites among hot rodders, and even those who don’t go all out are often enticed into replacing the original engine with a more powerful V8 and installing a more modern transmission. Cosmetic upgrades are also common — this one, for instance, was originally Yukon Yellow before being painted Dawn Blue a number of years ago.

Ownership History
The Nevada consignor of this 1958 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Stepside pickup truck believes that he is the fourth owner. He bought the California black-plate truck almost 10 years ago in March 2015 (after it spent the previous 57 years in California) and has done numerous upgrades. “For a straight axle truck, it steers and tracks great going down road ... It is by no means a show truck, but you’ll get plenty of thumbs up.”
