Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

This very special collection is offered from Dr. Karl Peace, an esteemed collector dedicated to the Studebaker marque. Following his donation, in its entirety, of his car collection to the Georgia Southern University Foundation, the collection is offered, entirely without reserve, via Hagerty Marketplace.

First introduced in 1956, the Golden Hawk was Studebaker’s most powerful and luxurious offering to date with 275 horsepower on tap from its 352 cu-in “Skypower” V8. For 1957, output remained the same, now coming from a 289 cu-in “Sweepstakes” V8 equipped with a “Jet-Stream” centrifugal-type supercharger. Significant chassis improvements including fast-action steering, extra-long travel front coil springs, and swept-back suspension arms made the 1957 Hawk the most maneuverable Studebaker yet, with its brochure claiming that the Hawk “perfectly combines boulevard smoothness and sports car agility in torturous turns!” Its performance credentials were further proven when a Packard-powered Golden Hawk ran in period at the famous Mille Miglia in 1956. Today, Golden Hawks are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts for their combination of speed, style and rarity.
