1957 Jaguar XK150 FHC Ride Along 2
Description
They say, “racing improves the breed” and the Jaguar XK150 is proof. Throughout the 1950s Jaguar claimed victories in countless motorsports events, including winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951, 1953, and 1955 to 1957. The technology behind those victorious C- and D-Type Jaguars directly transferred to the XK150.
Produced from 1957 to 1961, the XK150 featured several design updates, including a one-piece windshield replacing the split screen of its predecessors, and a higher, more streamlined fender line. Initially available as a Fixed Head Coupé (FHC) and Drop Head Coupé (DHC), the XK150 range expanded in 1958 to include the Open Two-Seater (OTS) roadster. Under the hood, the XK150 retained the 3.4-liter DOHC straight-six engine from the XK140 with 190 hp, but the “SE” (Special Equipment) model added a new "B" type cylinder head producing 210 hp plus cutting-edge four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes. Then in 1958, a more powerful "S" version was introduced, featuring three SU carburetors and a straight-port cylinder head, boosting output to 250 hp—all lessons learned from the D-Type.
With that six-cylinder symphony under the long hood, plus a walnut-trimmed leather interior with roll-up windows and improved heater, no wonder the all-weather Fixed Head Coupé was the most popular version of the XK150 series.
