1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop Restomod
Description
Tri-Five Chevrolets are some of the world’s most well-known classics, and the 1957 Chevy is the crown jewel. More formal than the 1955 and more ornate than the 1956, the 1957’s long fins, aggressive nose, and hood rockets are instantly recognizable. Also available in two- and four-door sedans, convertibles, and wagons, the top-trim-level 1957 Bel Air was adorned in chrome and stainless, with no window post, a gold grille, ornate wheel covers, and wider, uplevel side trim that closely followed the jet-age fins.
Sitting on a comfortable bench seat in the roomy interior, the steering wheel frames a gauge cluster worthy of this Chevrolet’s “The Hot One” reputation, with a large central speedometer flanked by fuel and temperature gauges. The driver used a two-speed auto or three-speed manual to control a six-banger, or 265- or 283 cu-in V8s of various carb configurations and power levels. There was even a 283 cu-in V8 wearing Rochester mechanical fuel injection, which made an impressive 283 horsepower at 6200 rpm.
This two-tone 1957 Bel Air two-door hardtop has been tastefully modified with a new crate V8 engine, modern overdrive transmission, upgraded suspension, and front disc brakes for fun, reliable cruising.
