Description
The 1957 Cadillac Series 62 featured a sleek, lower body design with a new cellular grille insert and inverted gull wing front bumpers, complemented by tapered “Dagmar-style” bumper guards. The rear bumper was entirely redesigned, incorporating round jet-style dual exhaust outlets into vertical bumper extensions. All models boasted an Eldorado-style wraparound windshield, while sedans had distinctive window reveal molding that created a built-in sun visor effect. A wide ventilator intake stretched across the windshield base, emphasizing the chrome visored headlamp look. The Series 62 was marked by the absence of rear fender louvers, with V-shaped ornaments and crests on the hood and deck, and full-length body underscores in bright metal. For the first time, standard equipment included automatic windshield washers, power steering, a 12 volt electrical system, and aluminum alloy pistons, with power steering, windows, seats, and auto headlight dimming available as options. Air conditioning, offered by Frigidaire, was available optionally on sedans and hardtops as a retrofitted self-contained unit.
