Description

The Chevrolet Advance-Design trucks, introduced on June 28, 1947, were a major post-World War II redesign that replaced the earlier AK Series, offering a larger, stronger, and sleeker design. These trucks, which remained in production until March 25, 1955, were also sold as rebranded models at GMC locations, making Chevrolet trucks the top sellers in the U.S. during this period. The Advance-Design series included a variety of models such as the Suburban, panel trucks, canopy express, and cab overs, each with distinctive features like a shorter, taller hood and unique fenders for the cab overs. Despite their common cab configuration, cab overs required a custom cowl area, making them incompatible with other truck cabs. Available in half-ton, three-quarter-ton, and full-ton capacities with both short and long wheelbases, these trucks set a standard for durability and design, influencing American vehicle trends in the mid-20th century.
