Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Ford’s first all-new post-war truck was billed in period brochures as the “Million Dollar Ford Truck,” referring to the one million dollars invested in research and tooling for its roomier and more comfortable cab design. Offering “Living Room” comfort, the new F Series cabs were seven inches wider and offered increased headroom, larger front and rear windows, and deep cushioned bench seats – all isolated from the harsh exterior conditions via front bushings and lever-action torsion links in the rear to insulate vibration and noise. From 1948 to 1953, Ford trucks were marketed in eight easy-to-understand models, with F-1 being the lightest capacity version and F-8 being the highest. The range was powered by either a Flathead inline-six or a Flathead V8, making Ford the only company to offer V8 engines for both pickup trucks and medium-duty trucks until 1954. Today, first-generation F Series pickups are some of the most beloved collector trucks extant for their classic styling, robust build quality, and enduring usability.
This lot is offered Without Reserve from The Roger Boman Collection, which comprises 27 vehicles ranging from European to American classics. Many examples within the collection feature Mr. Boman’s standard modification “formula,” including but not limited to the addition of disc brakes, air conditioning, modern fuel injection, and many other custom touches seen by countless enthusiasts around the Fresno, California area who shared the late owner’s passion for this unique assortment of automobiles.
