Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1947 Buick Special, part of the Series 40, was one of the first models produced after World War II marking a significant shift in automotive design as manufacturers transitioned from wartime production back to consumer vehicles. The Special Convertible featured a distinctive design with sweeping lines, a broad-shouldered stance, and the iconic waterfall grille. The addition of “VentiPorts” along the hood became a signature element of Buick’s design language for years. The car was available in popular color options, including Carlsbad Black and Sequoia Cream.
The Special had an upscale interior with an art deco-inspired dashboard, while optional heater-defroster and pushbutton radio enhanced the driving experience. Under the hood, the 1947 Buick Special Convertible was powered by a 248 cubic inch Straight-Eight engine, producing 110 horsepower, and was paired with a three-speed manual transmission, offering an estimated 0-60 mph time of 15 seconds and a top speed of around 80 mph—very good by 1947 standards, but barely adequate today.
This 1947 Special is powered by a GM fuel-injected 6.0-liter Vortec V8 with 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission, plus air ride suspension, power rack-and-pinion steering, disc brakes, and Vintage Air climate control that drives this Buick into the 21st Century.
