1941 White Scout Car
Description
The M3A1 Scout Car was produced by the White Motor Company for use by the US Military in both the Pacific and European theaters during World War II. Starting with the M3 light armored truck, the M3A1 had the chassis lengthened to improve off-road capabilities. These trucks served roles traditionally fulfilled by calvary units, including scouting, patrolling, and screening. Initial combat use was during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines in 1941 before being used throughout North Africa and Sicily. Standard equipment included skate rails, two 0.30 caliber guns at the rear, and one forward central 0.50 caliber machine gun. Radios were often fitted for use during scouting missions or when being used as a command vehicle.
The Military Collection
The five military trucks on offer today all come from a single collection that is focused on preserving military history. This selection of trucks served vital roles with the US Military in both theaters of World War II. Today they are offered in restored condition, eager to partake in a parade, reenactment, or any other gathering of military vehicles.
