Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
By the mid-60s Southern California was engulfed in a car craze, captivating young men like Steven J. Karlock, who became enamored with the Shelby 427 Cobra. Steven's passion for high-quality cars began with a Cobra, extended to Corvettes, and grew to include many legendary marques. Together with his wife, Jackie, he restored and cherished these vehicles. They later moved to Hannibal, Missouri, where they opened Karlock's Museum of Pop Culture in a historic grain depot along the Mississippi River. The museum, showcasing top-tier motorcars and memorabilia, became a Midwest gem. Hagerty Marketplace is honored to present The Karlock’s Collection, offered entirely without reserve.
In the waning years before World War II, Buick distinguished itself with a range of automobiles that offered exceptional value, positioning its prices enticingly close to those of more economical marques. The Super model emerged as the sweet spot in the lineup, sharing its nimble yet spacious 121 inch wheelbase with the entry-level Special. At the heart of the Super lay the formidable 248 cu-in “Fireball” straight-eight engine, producing a robust 125 horsepower. This powerplant showcased Buick's innovative Compound Carburetion system – a progenitor of the modern four-barrel carburetor. The innovative setup employed twin two-barrel carburetors, with one operating continuously and the other engaging during spirited acceleration via a progressive linkage. The Super's blend of performance, efficiency, and manageable proportions made it an attractive option for buyers seeking a balance of luxury and practicality in the immediate prewar era.
This attractive six-passenger, two-door 1941 Buick Super Sport Coupe is finished in Black over Grey Bedford Cord upholstery features a full-size rear bench that can also be removed for additional storage space. A California registration card on file indicates that the Buick has been a cherished member of The Karlock’s Collection since at least 2011.
