1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
For the 1940 model year, Ford introduced the Model 01A and 022A, featuring a stylish look by influential chief designer Eugene T. Gregorie. The standout feature of these new Fords was their V-shaped grille and fully integrated headlights placed in the outboard position on both De Luxe and Standard models, giving them a contemporary look. As in previous years, Ford offered a wide array of body styles, including two and four-door models, convertibles, and even a wood-bodied station wagon. Mechanically, most 1940 Fords were powered by the venerable flathead V8.
This all-steel 1940 Ford De Luxe Coupe is powered by a GM ZZ350 HO crate engine backed by a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. Up front is Mustang II front suspension with power rack-and-pinion steering and disc brakes while out back is a Ford nine-inch Positraction differential with 2.90:1 gears and four-link rear suspension. The Ford rides on QA1 12-position adjustable coilovers all around. The custom bench-seat interior features VDO gauges, tilt steering wheel, and a matching removable console. Old school touches include 104 hood louvers and genuine third-generation Halibrand aluminum wheels with knockoffs. With classic style plus modern performance this 1940 Ford De Luxe Coupe still stands out.
