Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
For 1937, Ford’s lineup offered a new streamlined design — with a slanted windshield and headlights built into the fender aprons — while providing more interior space, more V8 power, and “outstanding value.” With 10 models and price points available, Ford’s sales brochure boasted that its cars offered “the qualities which people desire most ... to a degree uncommon in a car of low price."
The ’37 Fords also provided an excellent canvas for customizers in the years that followed. For example, this Cabriolet Resto Mod was given an even cleaner look than Ford’s original stylists imagined by shaving its door handles, taillights, and hood ornament. The taillights are now integrated into the rear bumper, the hood no longer hinges at the back but on the passenger side, and the original rumble seat has been removed and a carpeted trunk with a power lid has taken its place.
As for the Cabriolet’s original V8 engine, it is long gone — replaced by a 350-cubic-inch V8 that’s mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The resto mod also features a Ford 6-inch rear end with Posi-Trac for added traction, staggered-size tires, and numerous cosmetic and convenience upgrades.
