1936 Rolls-Royce 25/30 Enclosed Limousine by Park Ward
Description
The embodiment of traditional English elegance, the Rolls-Royce 25/30 is a quintessential mid-1930s pre-war limousine. While Rolls-Royces are known for sumptuous interiors and a smooth, controlled ride – attributes this example has in spades – the 25/30 received a notable performance increase from its predecessor. The inline six-cylinder, overhead-valve engine received an increase in displacement to 4,257 cc (from 3,699 cc) by increasing the bore to 3.5 inches and a compression ratio of 6:1. A specialty Stromberg downdraft carburetor was fitted in place of the previous standard from Rolls-Royce. The resulting modifications produced approximately 90 horsepower transmitted to the rear wheels through a four-speed transmission, more than satisfying those who requested more power from the previous model. The newly found turn of speed would be halted by mechanical servo assist braking on all four wheels under license from Hispano-Suiza. Naturally, a generous list of standard equipment was offered on a car of this caliber with optional extras including various exterior color choices and interior appointments available.

Ownership History
According to a digital copy of its original build sheet, this Rolls-Royce 25/30 Enclosed Limousine was sold by Rolls-Royce to Park Ward coachbuilders of London and was originally delivered on 23 September 1936 to Lady Hamilton of Russett House, Surrey, for Town and Touring on number plates “DLD 584.” In 1967 a US Treasury Department document indicated it was purchased for $900 and imported to the United States. The car is believed to have been owned by a single family between 1966 and 2021, with its ownership card showing ownership by William R. Rogers of Centerville, Indiana in the 1960s, next passing to John P. Rogers in 2002. They embarked on a restoration in the mid-1990s, finishing in 2012. In 2021 the family parted ways after nearly 50 years of ownership.
