Description

Improving upon one of the most significant automobiles ever produced by the Ford Motor Company, the 1936 Ford V8 boasted updated styling offering customers a longer front hood, distinctive radiator grille, and newly redesigned fenders and wheels provided an imposing road presence. Although the 1936 Ford was mostly a continuation of the best-selling 1935 models, those appearance changes made it seem almost completely new, thanks to the redesign of the front end by Holden “Bob” Koto of Briggs Manufacturing Company.

Performance was equally modern as the “Ford stands out because it gives you the finest type of eight-cylinder engine, the Ford V-8.” Offered with a variety of body styles and trim levels, the De Luxe variant was one of the premium options available with comfortable seating, stylish instrument panels, and various luxury amenities for the time. While Chevrolet and Plymouth had just one open style each, Ford had six. All were available only with De Luxe trim and included a roadster, phaeton, two cabriolets, and two convertible sedans.

Of those, one of the most uncommon Fords for 1936 was the De Luxe Roadster with stylish rumble seat and jaunty folding convertible top with side curtains—just 3,862 produced that year.
