1936 Ford Custom Pickup
Description
The 1936 Ford Pickup is a classic vehicle that holds a special place in automotive history. Introduced during the Great Depression, 1936 Ford Pickup (and the rest of Ford’s model line) represented the automaker’s commitment to producing reliable and affordable vehicles for the American public.
The 1936 model was part of the Ford Model 67 series, which featured several improvements over its predecessors, including a more streamlined and modern appearance with a distinctive V-shaped grille and integrated headlights. This design was influenced by the Art Deco movement, which was popular at the time. The body was constructed with all-steel panels, providing increased durability and a more refined look compared to earlier models. Under the hood from the factory was a 221 cubic-inch flathead V8, which provided plenty of power for the time (85 hp).
With that said, '36 Fords often provided the perfect canvas for customizers, and this one is a perfect — and high end — example. Built by Jim McFall and displayed at the 1969 Detroit Autorama, it features a Oldsmobile 371 cu-in V8, four-speed automatic transmission (replacing the original three-speed manual), a custom paint job, and numerous additional upgrades.
