1935 Chevrolet Two-Door Sedan Hot Rod Walk-around
Description
As the economy began to recover following the Great Depression, new enthusiasm emerged for hot-rodding, particularly in Southern California, where the favorable weather and wide-open dry lakes gave rise to new dual-purpose race/street cars. Among the various makes and models being transformed by these hot-rodders was the 1934-1936 Chevrolet Standard, particularly the two-door sedan marketed by Chevrolet as the Master Six Coach. Its low, rakish stance lent itself to further sporting customization such as chopped roofs like the example presented here. This particular 1935 Chevrolet Two-Door Sedan Hot Rod was reportedly built by the previous Oregon-based owner in 1996 and is powered by a fuel-injected 350 cu-in Chevrolet “LT1” V8 mated to a “700R4” automatic transmission. Its steel bodywork features a 3 ½ inch chopped top and a Montana Blue finish with custom flame graphics, complemented by a stainless-steel grille and staggered American Racing five-spoke wheels. Other highlights of this ground-up build include Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, a 4.10 posi-traction rear end, Vintage Air air conditioning, and more. With just 1,437 miles shown since its completion, this custom hot rod is primed for enjoyment by its second owner on weekend cruises and at local car shows.
