Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
In 1933, as the economy began to recover from the hardship of the Great Depression, Pontiac started producing affordable cars with straight-eight engines. To keep costs low, they used many components from the six-cylinder Chevrolet Master, including the body. However, Pontiacs were easily recognizable due to a large chrome strip on the top and center of the front hood, earning them the nickname of the "Silver Streak." The straight-eight engine, with a 223.4 cu-in capacity and 77 horsepower, was the most powerful engine Pontiac had produced at the time, and it was also the least expensive eight-cylinder engine made by any American automotive manufacturer. In 1933 and 1934, the straight-eight was the only option for Pontiac buyers and powered a variety of different cars, including the 1934 five-passenger, four-door touring sedan.
