Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

“In villages, towns, and great cities throughout the United States, wherever American youth manifests an inordinate interest in automobiles, are to be found hot rods, the mechanical phenomena which enchants so many thousands of young Americans.” So wrote Lee O. Ryan in an early 1950s article titled “The Hot Rod Story” for the National Hot Rod Association. It’s a culture that grew out of the 1920s and 1930s, and expanded greatly after World War II, thanks in part to new magazines like Hot Rod and Car Craft.

The hallmark of the hot rod culture is individualism, but the days of raiding junkyards for old Ford and Chevy bodies, chassis, and engines to fix up are mostly over, as that pool of cars and parts has greatly dwindled. Kit cars, like this 1933 Ford Model 40 Three-Window Coupe replica, are an ideal platform to create a modern hot rod, filled with the engineering and components to meet today’s driving environment, while still allowing a great degree of creativity in paint, drivetrain, and accessories. This ’33 Ford was built by the father of the consignor, who obviously lavished great time and effort to craft a one-of-a-kind creation in the true hot rod spirit.
