1924 Ford Model T Roadster Cold Start
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Generally regarded as the world’s first mass-assembled and affordable car, the Ford Model T not only got America moving faster than the horse, but also increased mobility across the entire continent due to its affordability, versatility, and dependability. Henry Ford’s “Flivver” could be ordered in a variety of configurations: a two-seat runabout, an open five-passenger tourer, or a bare chassis that could be outfitted to meet the exact needs of the buyer to name just a few. The engine block and crankcase were cast as a single unit, and innovative two-speed planetary manual transmission simplified gear shifting. By 1924 Ford’s manufacturing prowess was so great the new Model T Runabouts cost just $265, or $360 with electric starter and battery.
This 1924 Model T Runabout has been restored to look showroom fresh, but has updates to improve driving ability, such as aluminum pistons and higher-compression cylinder head, Kevlar transmission bands, water pump, and the optional Ruckstell two-speed differential. It’s equipped with an electric starter and battery for simplified motoring. Enthusiasts today continue to drive Model Ts hundreds, even thousands of miles each year on road tours, a tribute to the Model T’s legendary affordability, versatility, and dependability.
