Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Widely considered the most significant car of all time, the Model T almost single-handedly changed the culture of the worldwide industry during its nearly 20 year production run of over 15 million vehicles. Upon its introduction in 1908, the fundamental goals were to create an affordable, simple-to-operate, and durable car. Referred to as "The Universal Car," the Model T was one of the first mass-produced vehicles and was manufactured at Ford's pioneering Highland Park Plant. This innovative car had its steering wheel placed on the left side, providing passengers with easy access to enter and exit the vehicle. The engine block and crankcase were cast as a single unit, and the Model T was also one of the first automobiles to have a detachable cylinder head for convenient access. For this innovation, vanadium steel, a lightweight but strong alloy, was utilized. The Model T's agile transmission simplified gear shifting, and the continuous improvements and innovations that followed it, led the world towards a more urban lifestyle. Henry Ford once summed up the resounding sales success and popularity of the Model T, saying, "There's no use trying to pass a Ford, because there's always another one just ahead."
