Description
Jaguar’s flagship sedan for the latter half of the twentieth century, the first XJ6 graced the world stage in 1968 with the winning recipe of the E-Type’s legendary 4.2-liter straight six engine, an all-new four-wheel independent suspension system, and timeless good looks. As a sales success, Jaguar was keen on revisions and constant updates, which by 1979, brought them to the Series III XJ6. This third revision of the sedan was the most refined yet, boasting a handsome redesign courtesy of Carrozzeria Pininfarina. Becoming available in 1982 for the US market, the range-topping Vanden Plas trim level introduced an even higher level of refinement with features including hand-painted coach stripes, hand-sewn Connolly leather upholstery, burl walnut trim, swiveling rear compartment reading lamps, and a contoured rear bench seat with a fold-down center armrest. Today, this superb Series III XJ6 Vanden Plas remains a desirable family-friendly collector car.

Ownership History
The accompanying Carfax report shows that the Jaguar was enjoyed by its original New Jersey-based owner until 2000, before finding its way to Maine in the mid-2000s. The consignor purchased the car from the Maine-based owner in 2017, performing the highlighted service work before selling it to its next caretaker in Oklahoma who drove the car sparingly over the next several years. Rejoining the consignor in 2022, the Jaguar is now offered for sale indicating 65,493 miles.
