Description
NOW OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced in 1957 by Ford as a new marque aiming to fill the premium/intermediate market gap between Mercury and Lincoln, Edsel was nine years in the making and named after founder Henry Ford’s son, Edsel Ford. The Edsel brand encompassed 18 separate models across four lines upon launch, including the range-topping Ranger and Pacer based on Ford’s 118-inch Fairlane chassis, and the up-market Corsair and Citation based on the 124-inch Mercury frame. The Corsair and Citation were equipped with the largest and most powerful engine across the range, the 410 cu-in Mercury V8 producing 345 horsepower, and in contrast to other Edsels, the luxurious Citation was fitted with the most exterior stainless steel trim and a gold-anodized aluminum cover panel. Today, Edsel Citations are coveted for their novel features and distinctive “horse collar” grilles with their appearance unlike anything produced by any other manufacturer of the era.
