1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500- Turn over
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Launched in 1962, the Triumph Spitfire’s final iteration, the 1500, debuted in December 1974 and remained in production until August 1980. Notably, it featured the largest engine ever fitted to a Spitfire—a robust 1,493 cc inline-four—significantly enhancing its spirited performance and appealing to buyers. Designed by the renowned Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, the Spitfire 1500 showcased striking body lines and modern amenities, such as roll-up windows, which set it apart from competitors still using side curtains. Celebrated for its racing prowess, the Spitfire clinched numerous SCCA championships and excelled in European rallies. Ultimately, the Spitfire marked the last Triumph automobile sold in the United States, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of British sports cars.
