Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer another selection of vehicles from The SugarCreek Collection. This private collection in southwestern Ohio is supported by its own in-house restoration and maintenance shop, with a full-time staff of craftsmen. The garage is a true spectrum of car enthusiast dreams, ranging from unfinished restorations to the most recent sale of the SEMA-exhibited 1,000 HP 1962 Dodge Power Wagon, supporting the Mike Rowe WORKS Foundation. Thirty select cars from the collection are being offered just in time for spring. Whether awaiting restoration, preserved showroom stock, restored to like-new, or tastefully modified, these cars and trucks are truly SugarCreek quality.

Following the patriotic trend of the time, Willys’ compact line of coupes, sedans, wagons, and pickup trucks became known as “Americars” in 1941. The vehicles had already begun to evolve from the more squared lines of the Willys 77, thanks to the 1938 arrival of chief executive Joseph W. Frazer, who decided that a modern-looking and inexpensive compact car was the answer for the struggling automaker.
Featuring a more streamlined, Ford-like appearance — which later made the cars attractive to numerous custom builders — the 1941 Americar rolled out of the factory with a 60-horsepower, 134 cu-in Go Devil inline four-cylinder engine. Available models included the base Speedway, mid-range Plainsman, and top-of-the-line DeLuxe, which offered a three-door woody wagon variant.
The 1941 Americar was praised for its overall value, with Consumers Union Reports rating it as a “Best Buy” in the lowest price group. However, the onset of World War II led to the cessation of civilian automobile production as manufacturers shifted focus to military needs. Willys-Overland, of course, was famously involved in producing the iconic Jeep for the war effort.
This four-door DeLuxe Sedan is in need of some TLC, but it offers a solid starting point for restoration or customization.
