2017 Acura NSX Sport Hybrid Coupe Walk Around
Description
The Acura NSX was truly a revelation when it first appeared in America in 1990 as the Honda NSX, and the Japanese-built mid-engined supercar remained at the cutting edge of performance for 15 years, thanks to consistent model revisions and styling updates. When the second-generation NSX arrived in June 2016 after a 10-year hiatus, it was hardly recognizable from its predecessors, both in looks and performance.
“To say that the second-generation NSX shares nothing with the first generation, production of which ended in 2005, would be an understatement,” Car and Driver wrote when previewing the 2017 model. “From its carbon-fiber and aluminum-intensive construction to its all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain, the NSX is completely reimagined.”
Unlike the first-gen NSX, which was manufactured in Japan, the new sport coupe was designed and engineered at Honda’s plant in Marysville, Ohio. Acura lauded its "sleek yet muscular stance,” saying it conveyed “a sense of purpose and power.” The car’s new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine was designed to work in concert with three electric motors, two of which were part of the SH-AWD drivetrain. Combined with its nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the NSX was capable of 573 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque.
This showroom-quality, one-owner NSX shows only 2,791 original miles.
