Description

The 2007-14 Toyota FJ Cruiser paid homage to the iconic FJ40 Land Cruiser of the 1960s-80s, blending retro styling with legendary Toyota off-road capability. At 183.9 inches, the mid-size SUV was slotted between the smaller RAV4 and larger Highlander. 

The FJ Cruiser was powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine, with output increasing during its production run: 239 horsepower for 2007-09 models, 258 horsepower in 2010, and 260 horsepower from 2011-14. Rear-wheel drive was standard, with two transmission options, a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. The manual transmission was paired with a full-time 4x4 system, while the automatic offered an optional part-time 4x4 system — both 4x4 systems utilized a two-speed transfer case (high/low). 

The FJ Cruiser struck a balance between on-road comfort and off-road capability; its independent front suspension provided a smooth ride on pavement, while the solid rear axle with an electronic locking differential ensured excellent traction and articulation in challenging terrain.
