1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car: Driving POV Video
Description
Introduced in 1970, the fifth-generation Lincoln Continental underwent several updates during the '70s and culminated with the stunning 1979 model line, the last before the Continental was redesigned for 1980.
Known for its opulence, comfort, and advanced features, the 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car was over 19 feet long and elegantly styled with a prominent grille, hidden quad headlights, and opera windows. Lincoln described the car’s plush interior as “sumptuous” and “prestigious,” highlighted by its “loose pillow” leather bench seats, woodgrain dash, and thick carpeting. Under the hood was a 400 cubic-inch V8 engine paired with the durable C6 automatic transmission. And features like power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seats, power door locks, and Cartier clock all came standard.
This all-original 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car survivor wears Jubilee Gold Metallic paint and is loaded with optional upgrades like rare scenic tinted-glass roof, one-piece aluminum wheels, Electronic Quadrasonic 8-track AM/FM stereo, and lighted visors. Mostly importantly, the luxury four-door survivor shows only 4,179 miles, believed original, and it has only minor cosmetic imperfections.

Ownership History
This two-owner 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car was purchased new from Towne Lincoln-Mercury in Orchard Park, New York. The Iowa consignor purchased it in June 2024 from a dealership representing the original owner, who was in his 90s. “I tuned it up, checked and serviced the car completely, and put new correct tires on it to replace the dry rotted originals.”
