Description

The Mercury Cougar is where wild meets elegance via a sporting luxury car with handsome European-inspired styling. Bold new styling for 1970 incorporated an overall longer car with a lengthed road-smoothing wheelbase. The distinctive split front grille made a reappearance, while the tail lights were revised, incorporating a vertical bar design. An assortment of V8s allowed the buyer to choose the ideal power plant, starting with the 351 cu-in to the fiery CJ 428-4V with ram air induction. Accompanying the engine choices was a lengthy options list that allowed buyers to choose whether they wanted to create a luxurious coupe, to a potent muscle car.
