1966 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 327/300 Driving POV
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
You could almost say that no two 1966 Corvettes were alike, Chevrolet’s option list for the 1966 Sting Ray was that extensive. Stylish coupe or the more popular convertible bodies. Four engines were available from milder 327 cu-in to wild 427 cu-in powerplants. A three-speed manual was standard, but most opted for the four-speed manual or two-speed Powerglide automatic. Air conditioning, AM/FM radio, and more for comfort. Then there was a rainbow of colors to choose from, with matching or contrasting interiors.
This nicely optioned 1966 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe is a mostly original example. Originally Rally Red, it was resprayed an attractive silver some time ago by its long-term owner, a striking contrast to the red vinyl interior and hood stripe. Power is from the numbers-matching 300 hp 327 cu-in engine through a smooth-shifting four-speed manual that replaced the factory automatic with GM parts years ago. It has the original AM/FM radio, but with the music of the factory-style side pipes that compliment the aftermarket wheels replacing the originals, it’s hardly necessary. What Chevrolet said in ’66 still holds true today: “To own and drive a 1966 Corvette is one of the most invigorating and exciting experiences in the whole of motordom.”
