Description
Introduced in 1982, the high-tech Pontiac 6000 served as GM’s upscale mid-size, A-Body offering. The 6000 would feature a variety of body styles including a spacious eight-passenger station wagon with clean, crisp lines which Pontiac would contemplate as, “one of the most beautiful, most functional station wagons ever”. Offered with an array of impressive engineering and styling features, a cockpit-like interior was the perfect complement to sporty handling characteristics which would earn a variant of the Pontiac 6000 a spot on the Car and Driver magazine 10 Best list three consecutive times, from 1983 to 1985. Joining the 6000 model range in 1984, Pontiac would again use the Safari nameplate first used on one of their station wagons in 1955. Safari would now represent the Pontiac designation for a station wagon which could be found on three different sizes of wagon offered in 1988. Brimming with nostalgia for many enthusiasts with childhood memories spent packed into similarly configured station wagons, this Safari wagon remains ideally suited as a charming grocery getter or for bringing the entire family to RADwood.
RADwood Ready
RADwood is a festival that focuses on the culture and vehicles of the 1980s and 1990s. RADwood, and the “RADwood Era” are now commonly used to reference this period of bodacious automotive history.
Hagerty took stewardship of RADwood in March of 2022 to build on the company’s purpose to save driving and car culture while expanding and supporting inspiring experiences for automotive enthusiasts.

Ownership History
Purchased new from Maroon Pontiac in Wayne, New Jersey, this 1988 Pontiac 6000 Safari was originally owned by the grandmother of the vehicle's second registered owner who acquired the vehicle at her time of passing. Offered with a clean Carfax report, the current owner would acquire the vehicle in November of 2022 after it had remained a single-family-owned vehicle. Prior to selling, the current owner took the responsibility of ensuring this vehicle was fully serviced in addition to minor rust repairs and full detail.
