Description

Attractive, fun, and truly unique classics are hard to find—but this 1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Convertible fits the bill. The F-85 was borne of the small car battles in the 1960s, and designed to go head-to-head with Ford Falcons and Chevy Corvairs. To do so it utilized GM’s midsize Y-body platform, shared by the Pontiac Tempest and Buick Special, and featured a 112-inch wheelbase and unibody construction. It rode on a coil-spring suspension, and relied on a high-tech, all-aluminum powerplant with Olds’ proprietary cylinder head design. The 215 cu-in engine made 185 horsepower and was mated to a four-speed manual transmission, offering spirited performance in this lightweight car.

Drivers were greeted with a stylish two-spoke steering wheel and a full-sweep speedometer, as well as a unique, console-mounted 6,000-rpm tachometer. The low-back vinyl bucket seats were complemented by a matching dash pad, door panels, carpets, and as equipped here, a matching boot for the power-operated convertible.

This clean 1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass Deluxe Convertible is not only unique, but a survivor as only 12,149 F-85s and Cutlasses were built in 1963.
