2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP Startup
Description
The Pontiac Solstice would provide a fitting final bookend for GM’s performance-oriented Pontiac brand being in production for five years ending in 2010. The sporting two-seater was available as a coupe and as a fun-loving and popular open-air roadster. The Solstice’s Kappa platform used innovative hydroformed rails and a centralized chassis backbone to create a suitably rigid chassis while only being 400 pounds heavier than a Mazda MX-5 Miata. The car could be ordered in standard trim with a 2.4-liter inline-four-cylinder or in GXP trim, such as this example, with the turbocharged variant featuring a 57-percent power increase. Much to the disappointment of fans of performance everywhere, Solstice production, along with the Pontiac brand, ceased in 2010, but the spirit of this exciting, performance-oriented brand is still alive with the Solstice GXP today.
