2018 Porsche 911 Targa 4S Retro Motors Collection
Description
As undoubtedly one of the most influential and popular sports cars ever created, the Porsche 911 has served as the benchmark sports car in terms of both performance and usability since its launch in 1964. Continuously improving upon their original design, Porsche would launch their 991 generation in 2011, marking the seventh iteration of the 911, and only the third with an entirely new platform. Receiving a facelift in 2016, the 991 would offer wider rear fenders and a wholly redesigned transaxle which allowed for an increased wheelbase giving the new model significantly better weight distribution and handling performance over the previous 997. Porsche is one of the last sports car manufacturers still offering a manual transmission option creating a connection between driver and car in a way no PDK-equipped Porsche can. While the PDK may be a tick faster to 60 mph (4.2 vs 4.4 seconds) the immersive experience derived from the seven-speed manual is certainly worth the tradeoff. Accurately summed up by an automotive journalist as, “…one of the best sports cars on the market right now,” This Targa variant offers the perfect balance between open-air motoring and 911 coupe-like silhouette when closed, and with a manual transmission and a healthy dose of options, it’s a well-specified example as well.
This car is part of the Retro Motors Collection, which comprises over 30 cars largely from the 1950s through today, with a focus on American muscle and high-powered European sports cars. View the full collection here.
