Description

Completely overhauled from front to back, the all-new third-generation C/K trucks emerged in 1973 as GM’s longest-running series ever. Earning the nickname “Square Body” for its distinctive lack of curves, Chevrolet and GMC models were available in either a smooth fleet-side bed or a step-side one. Trim options were also plentiful, ranging from the Custom Deluxe/Sierra to the top-line Silverado/Sierra Classic. Today, many of these pickups have been tastefully “retro-modded” with modern drivetrains and equipment to blend convenience with their coveted boxy ‘70s styling.

Highlights

  • Short-bed, two-wheel drive example of the affectionately named “Square Body” third-generation C/K truck series

  • Equipped with the drivetrain from a 2005 Cadillac Escalade: 5.3-liter Vortec LM7 V8 engine producing 295-horsepower, mated to a four-speed 4L60-E automatic transmission

  • Additional performance modifications include an aftermarket camshaft, headers, and a high-flow exhaust system

  • Finished in heavily-patinated red paintwork featuring “Parts Sales Oil” lettering on the bed side

  • The consignor reports replacing the dashboard and carpets, as well as recovering the seats in red cloth upholstery

  • Rides on 20-inch USW forged three-piece wheels mounted with new Cosmo MuchoMacho tires

  • Recent servicing includes new king pin, idler gear, wiring for new AutoMeter gauges, and rear axle service

  • Showing 63 miles on the digital odometer since the rebuild, total mileage is unknown
