Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Marketed as a ‘Middleweight with V8 punch,’ the Ford Fairlane - especially in its woodgrained Squire form - was the ultimate ‘sleeper’ choice from Ford’s Total Performance era. Equally at home on the way to a picnic or towing a Formula Junior to the track, this Fairlane 500 Squire Wagon, uniquely equipped with a factory four-speed transmission, is ready for its next adventure, even if that adventure happens to be an afternoon school run.

Highlights

  • ‘Fairlane Squire’ model, 1963’s top-of-the-line Ford Fairlane 500 wagon

  • Specified in a way unlikely to be seen on any dealer lot when new

  • Originally finished in subtle Champagne (now Pale Yellow) over impressive Red upholstery

  • Optioned with the rarely seen sport bucket seats and rarer still, floor mounted four-speed manual transmission

  • Ordered new with ‘Challenger’ V8, sporting four-speed manual transmission, and a 3.50:1 rear axle

  • Voluminous cargo space, 9.5 linear feet to the end of the open tailgate and nearly 8 feet with the tailgate closed

  • Styling inspired by the third generation (1961-1963) Ford Thunderbird

  • Currently showing 54,467 mi

Features

  • The four door, six-passenger ‘Fairlane Squire’ model features simulated wood body trim, deep-pleated upholstery

  • Counterbalanced tailgate with power window

  • Now powered by a 289 cu-in V8 crate motor

  • Lightweight aluminum thermostatic radiator under the hood

  • Colorful, custom upholstered rear-facing third seat with accent pillows

  • Chrome roof rack with roof mounted rub strips

  • Front disc brakes

Known Flaws

  • Missing tailgate key lock trim

  • Front passenger door could use adjustment

  • Near term speedometer cable replacement likely

  • Weak heating in the winter

Included

  • Includes original documentation, previous owner correspondence

  • Recent service records from 2018 invoice for over $5,000 of mechanical repair and maintenance work
