1965 Chevrolet Nova Two-Door Sport Coupe Walk Around

1965 Chevrolet Nova Two-Door Sport Coupe Cold Start
Description
Chevrolet had pinned their “all new compact car” hopes on the highly ambitious and very technically advanced (for the day) rear engine, air-cooled Corvair that was introduced for 1960, and promptly saw Ford eat their lunch — the 1960 Ford Falcon outsold the Chevy Corvair by a wide margin. A much more conventional front-engine, rear-drive compact was introduced as the 1962 Chevy II, with Nova being an upgrade trim. By 1964 the small-block 283 cu-in Chevrolet V8 was an option. More than just an economy car, Nova’s lightweight unibody construction and V8 power made it a surprisingly good performer.
This 1965 Nova Two-Door Sport Coupe is the marriage of something old, something new. Under the hood a Chevy 327 cu-in small block replaces the original six-cylinder. The interior has newer carpeting, and the seats have been reupholstered. There’s also a rear axle air-ride suspension that is adjustable from the trunk. Otherwise, it’s mostly original, including the grille, chrome moldings, weather stripping, and window glass. So too the interior, where the dash and door panels are all original with a nice patina. Add a set of classic Cragar wheels and this Nova is ready to perform.
