1941 Lincoln Continental - walkaround

1941 Lincoln Continental - startup
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
After the Ford buy-out of Lincoln in 1922, Edsel Ford became president of Ford's flagship division. Edsel became very involved with styling decisions and made sure that subsequent Lincolns, including the Model K and L, were increasingly elegant. He also had a significant role in the stunning Zephyr of 1936. Inspired by some of the great coachwork appearing on fine European chassis, Edsel Ford asked designer E.T. "Bob" Gregorie to build him a personal car that looked "Continental." The result was a custom cabriolet built on a 1939 Zephyr chassis. In 1939, Edsel used his new Continental while vacationing in Boca Raton, Florida. The response to the unique car was overwhelming. Edsel decided to put the car into production, and in May 1940, it appeared in both cabriolet and coupe forms using a modified Zephyr chassis, as well as that car's V12 engine and three-speed transmission. Originally sold as a special version of the Zephyr, the 1941 models were spun off as a separate line for Lincoln. With only detail changes, the supremely elegant 1941 Continentals were trimmed with the finest materials.
