Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

First uncovered in 1949, the Ford Deluxe represented the first clean-sheet design from the Blue Oval since World War II. Offered with a charming design that is commonly known as a “shoebox Ford”, the Deluxe was available in either Deluxe or Custom Deluxe trim variants, with the latter featuring a new station wagon with familiar ‘woodie’ styling. Transitioning away from a complete wooden body, the Custom Deluxe Station Wagon was constructed around a steel roof and rear fenders while wood remained for the side bodywork and upper and lower tailgate. The front end offered a signature bullet-adorned grill and a wrap-around bumper complete with parking lights. What many now consider as the test of a ‘true Station Wagon’ the second seat folds completely flat and is removable. Described by Ford as a “combination of style and utility as never before”, this two-door station wagon provided seating for eight passengers. Later renamed the Country Squire, the Ford Custom Deluxe Station Wagon was the first glimpse into this nostalgic family transporter that served many in comfort and classic American style.
