E55 AMG Cold Start and Walk Around Video
If there is one thing Mercedes-Benz does well, it is building an uncompromising luxury car capable of beating sports cars worldwide. This 2000 E55 AMG is no different, effortlessly keeping pace with and even beating contemporary Corvettes and Porsche 911s, all while the driver relaxes in a refined four-door sedan, making important phone calls with the optional Mercedes-branded Motorola StarTAC integrated cell phone. The highlight of any AMG, and certainly this car, in particular, is its 5.5-liter V8, reworked by the engineers at AMG and paired with a smooth and refined five-speed automatic transmission. Stepping up in the E-class hierarchy from the E430 to the E55 gives the driver an extra 74 hp and 96 lb-ft of torque due to the increase in displacement and optimized volumetric efficiency. Part of the allure of the W210 generation E55 is that this is one of the last AMG cars built entirely in AMG’s Affalterbach plant and the final naturally aspirated variant of E55s. Presented today in excellent condition, this striking piece of AMG history is the perfect addition to any sports car collection looking for a refined family hauler.
