Description
Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer a selection of vehicles from the SugarCreek Collection. This private collection in southeastern Ohio is supported by its own in-house restoration and maintenance shop, with a full-time staff of craftsmen. The garage is a true spectrum of car enthusiast dreams, ranging from unfinished restorations to the most recent SEMA-exhibited 1,000 horsepower 1962 Dodge Power Wagon. Sixteen select cars from the collection are being offered in time for the holidays. Whether awaiting restoration, preserved showroom stock, restored to like-new, or tastefully modified, these cars and trucks are truly SugarCreek quality.
The Buick Gran Sport was launched following the tremendous success of its sister divisions' Pontiac GTO, marking General Motors’ successful bid to balance luxury with performance. Part of Buick's record-breaking production year in 1968, the GS 400 featured a redesigned 112-inch wheelbase chassis and fresh styling that included the iconic sweepspear design and a faux “Venti Port” behind the front wheels. The GS 400's 400-cubic-inch V8, which replaced the previous "nailhead" engine, delivered 340 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque through either a floor-shifted three-speed manual, Muncie four-speed, or automatic transmission.
Despite its performance credentials, the GS 400 maintained Buick's luxury reputation with plush interiors featuring standard vinyl bench seats or optional buckets, along with available amenities like power accessories, air conditioning, and various console options. The convertible variant proved particularly uncommon in 1968, with just 2,454 examples produced. With its blend of power and sophistication, the GS 400 Convertible represented one of the last icons of the muscle car era, with production concluding in 1972.
