2002 Chevrolet Corvette “Lingenfelter” Coupe
Description
The fourth-generation Corvette had enjoyed a successful run of fifteen years, but GM decided to release a radically redesigned version of America's sports car in 1997. The new C5 was a significant improvement over the previous generation C4, featuring hydroformed frame rails that made it stiffer and lighter. The transaxle system helped to improve interior space and weight distribution. Additionally, the C5 introduced several new features, like a drive-by-wire throttle and a variable effort power steering system. However, the most notable feature was the all-aluminum "LS" V8 engine, which has now become legendary. All these changes made the C5 a comfortable, innovative, and powerful sports car. Many automotive enthusiasts find the stock version of the Corvette satisfying. However, some owners demand even more performance from their cars, as can be seen in this 2002 Coupe. In July 2002, the car was upgraded with a Lingenfelter Stage One twin-turbo kit, increasing the output to 550 horsepower and an equal 550 lb-ft of torque. Additional modifications were performed to aid in transforming this power into a potent performer, such as a rebuilt heavy-duty transmission with a Yank torque converter, a heavy-duty aluminum radiator, and a Corsa 304 stainless steel exhaust., enhancing the Corvette's legacy of offering a powerful, exhilarating driving experience.
