Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Chevrolet's Corvair series emerged as a direct response to the increasing competition posed from the European market, particularly the Volkswagen Beetle. In a strategic countermove, Ed Cole, the General Manager of Chevrolet, spearheaded a bold initiative, introducing a diverse range of rear-engine vehicles. This versatile line-up of vehicles boasted air-cooled flat six engines and encompassed coupes, convertibles, sedans, station wagons, and even trucks and vans. This bold step away from tradition marked the first production rear-engine vehicle built in the United States. For the enthusiast crowd, the coupes and convertibles offered the option of a Turbocharged engine, exclusively paired with a manual gearbox. Today, the Corvair enjoys a passionate following among enthusiasts and serves as an affordable entry point into the world of car collecting, owing to its ample availability of aftermarket parts.
