Description
The world was introduced to the third generation of Mercedes-Benz SL in the spring of 1971 with the launch of the ‘R107.’ This generation of SL was the first to be equipped with a V8 engine and transformed the range into a high-performance luxury roadster. Initially offered with a 3.5-liter engine, shortly thereafter, in 1973, a 4.5-liter was also offered. With increasing government-mandated emission regulations, the 3.5-liter was transformed into an all-aluminum 3.8-liter V8. Equipped with a folding soft top and removable steel hardtop, these cars combine the dynamism of an open roadster with the year-round convenience of a closed coupe. With classic Teutonic styling, these cars have gracefully aged into their role as beloved and wonderfully versatile classics of the Mercedes-Benz range.

According to the current owner, they purchased this 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL in August 2022 from a sibling of the original owner, who had kept the car for several years after inheriting it. It was also reported that the majority of the mileage was accumulated by the original owner traveling between their homes in New Jersey and Florida. The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report indicates that this car has been in New Jersey since 2006, with just under 108,000 miles reported at the time.
